Cohiba is known as the King of Cuban cigars. This Cuban brand quickly gained this reputation after being introduced in 1968. Although it wasn’t distributed to the public (Just Castro’s elite group of friends and diplomats), the secret got out fast. Finally in 1982, the Cohiba brand was released to the general public in three different sizes (Lanceros, Panetelas and Coronas Especiales).
As soon as the Robusto and Esplendidos models were put out, Cohiba surpassed the Montecristo cigars as the best available Havana cigar brand ever made. Before the Cohiba brand’s introduction to the public, the cigars it represented were only constructed in a private mansion of Castro’s and rolled by women only (Which is very rare in the Cuban cigar world).
A lot of tales, myths and stories are behind the Cohiba brand but one thing is for sure, if you’ve developed your palette enough, Cohiba is the best cigar in the world to smoke.
